GFC host Carshalton Athletic tonight

WITH four potential debutants from his youth team in tow, Carshalton Athletic manager Matt Howard says his team 'aren't expecting anything' from tonight's clash at Footes Lane.

Guernsey FC play their first Ryman South home game of the season under the floodlights and while they have their whole squad available, it is a different story for the visitors.

Carshalton, who lost 4-0 at home to Dorking Wanderers on the opening day, are without seven first-team regulars who are unable to travel for the fixture.

Howard, who took over during the summer, is not a happy man and says that the Green Lions will almost certainly make the most of that tonight.

'There are seven players who can't travel because of the game being midweek like this and all seven would have been in or very close to my starting XI,' he said.

'I haven't got a problem with having to play Guernsey in midweek, but to have to play them midweek this early in the season just three weeks after the fixtures have been released is absolutely ridiculous.

'Because of that, we are treating this game as a free ticket where we are expecting nothing and anything we can get out of it would be a bonus.'

From the home side's perspective, they are buoyed by the fact that barring Kieran Mahon, who is still nursing an ankle injury, everybody else is fit to start if needed.

Colin Fallaize and Steve Sharman remain in charge tonight in the absence of the holidaying Tony Vance.

Guernsey FC v. Carshalton Athletic kicks off at 7.45pm tonight at Footes Lane.
