Jersey star Jenner available for inter-insular

JERSEY will have their star batsman available to them for Saturday's Odey Wealth Inter-Insular at Port Soif after Sussex gave him permission to play.

Jonty Jenner, 17, who finished as the fourth highest run scorer at the World Twenty20 Qualifier last month, is currently living in Sussex while representing the county side.

However, the Hove-based team are likely to allow Jenner – who has been 12th man for the county first team and scored 48 runs for the 2nds in the last week – to return to the Channel Islands for the annual clash.

Jersey director of cricket Neil MacRae is pleased with the news, although Guernsey's bowlers might not be so amused after seeing the quality of Jenner shine through on his full inter-insular debut last summer at Farmers.

'We're excited about him coming back to represent the Island in the inter-insular, as is he – he's one of those players who is always proud to pull on the red shirt.'
