Long absentee list for GFC's trip to Hythe Town

THEY may have the carrot of a maiden home FA Cup tie awaiting them this weekend, but a more immediate priority for Guernsey FC is tonight's Ryman South match at Hythe Town.

Yesterday's first qualifying round draw in the famous cup competition means that should the Green Lions defeat Phoenix Sports away on Saturday, they will be due to host Ryman Premier outfit Lewes a fortnight later.

However, with a rugby game scheduled at Footes Lane that day, Lewes would still need to agree to play on the Friday or Sunday or else potentially play on a neutral ground in the UK.

But before all of that is the focus on kick-starting their indifferent Ryman South campaign thus far, as Tony Vance's men sit on six points from four games.

Ross Allen, Dom Heaume, Jamie Dodd, Chris Tardif, Ryan-Zico Black and Sam Cochrane are among those unavailable, while Glyn Dyer is suspended and both Dave Rihoy and Kieran Mahon injured.

Hythe have started the season poorly and have earned just one point from their opening four games to sit 22nd in the league.

Tonight's match kicks off at 7.45pm.

GFC squad

Jakub Machlowski, Tom de la Mare, Jacques Isabelle, Alex Le Prevost, Tom Strawbridge, Jason Winch, Simon Geall, Angus Mackay, Liam Mahon, Josh Steel, Guille Fernandez, Craig Young, Marc McGrath, Luke Winch.
