Green Lions ready for tough South Park test

TONY VANCE has described Guernsey FC's home clash with South Park tonight as a 'classic six-pointer' as both sides chase Ryman South promotion.

A victory for either side at Footes Lane would lift them into the top five and they currently sit level on 29 points apiece, albeit South Park having played a game less.

The Green Lions remain the league's form team over the last eight games and have made their best start yet to a Ryman South campaign as they chase a play-off place, but manager Vance knows this is a big obstacle to that quest.

'This is a big game, as simple as that, one of those classic six-pointers that are often talked about,' he said.

'We have played South Park a few times over the years in the CCL and now Ryman, so we know we can expect a tough game again here.

'Everybody knows that we are on a really good run of form, but it is all about focusing on one game at a time and trying to get another positive result here.

'We are in sight of the play-off spots now and if we can get into them, it will be a good situation for us and better than trying to get into them later in the season from behind.'

Vance has recalled Angus Mackay and Tom de la Mare to his 16-man squad, but Glyn Dyer's hamstring injury from Saturday rules him out and Marc McGrath is also sidelined.

Tonight's game kicks off at 7.45pm.
