Despite both overcoming late scares, Vale Rec and Rovers booked their spots in the Stranger Cup semi-finals on Thursday night.

Rovers squandered a 2-0 lead given to them by a Sam Hall brace against Bels by conceding four second half-goals to lose 4-2 but still qualify from the group stage on goal difference.

And in the other group, Vale Rec looked to be cruising through when, needed only a draw against the Guernsey U18, they led 3-1 having initially fallen behind.

Two late goals for the youngsters made it 3-3 and a goal away from a shock qualification, but Rec held on to set up a semi-final against North in the new year.

Rovers face holders Sylvans in the other.
