Two more years as Guernsey manager for Sharman

STEVE SHARMAN has been re-appointed as Guernsey coach for the next two seasons – taking him through to at least the 2017 NatWest Island Games in Gotland.

Since taking the job in 2013, he has led the Sarnians to their biggest ever away Muratti Vase final win – a 4-1 success over Jersey in May 2014 – as well as winning Island Games gold in Jersey last summer.

Despite being in charge of his side's home defeat in this year's Muratti, the Guernsey Football Association say it was an easy choice to allow Sharman the chance to extend his stay to a minimum of four seasons.

He will look to win back the Muratti in its 100th final at Springfield in May, assuming they can defeat Alderney in April, while in 18 months' time he will look to become the first Guernsey coach ever to win successive Island Games golds on foreign soil.
