MARTYN DE GARIS admitted that he has lost his enthusiasm for football after stepping down as Sylvans coach at the weekend.

A 6-0 home Priaulx League defeat to North proved to be de Garis' final match in charge of his second spell with the club as he resigned immediately post-match.

However, he said that his decision had already been made a while earlier and he would have left regardless of that result.

'The simple reason is that I have lost my enthusiasm for the game and that was starting to rub off on the players,' he said.

'It is nothing to do with the players, the club or anybody else, it is just down to me and I didn't think it was fair to carry on.'
