Raiders are hit by a glut of injuries

AN INJURY crisis has hit Guernsey Rugby Club as the Raiders head to their final game of 2015.

Jordan Reynolds had his fingers crossed yesterday that a couple of players would come through late fitness tests ahead of their National Three London & South-East trip to Chichester tomorrow, but he was still struggling to fill his match-day 18 with up to 22 players from the two GRFC senior squads out.

'On the one hand it's pretty bad because we wanted to finish off the year well, but on the other hand if you are going to cop a few knocks, it's probably best to have them going into the Christmas break,' said director of rugby Reynolds, whose side will enjoy a three-week break after tomorrow's clash.

'Even with a full strength side I thought going to Chichester would be pretty tough, so it will just be a case of doing what we can.'

First-team regulars Lewis Hillier, Robin Le Cocq, Malcolm Barnes, Glen Walters, Luke Sayer and Matt Thomas are all out of tomorrow's trip along with long-term absentees Sam Stables and Greg Smith among others.
