SYLVANS enter an exciting new era this weekend with the toughest test possible first up – a trip to FNB Priaulx League leaders Vale Rec.

Although the forecasted rain between now and then could well cause disruption, there are two league games scheduled on Grand Fort Road at 2pm on Saturday.

North, who are three points back from Rec but having played a game less, host St Martin's in the other, but the scheduled clash between Rangers and Rovers has been postponed.

That is because of Rangers' re-arranged Guernsey FA Cup commitments in entertaining veterans outfit Manzur, which was postponed last weekend and is now being played at 1.30pm on Sunday.

Many eyes will be on the Corbet Field, where Sylvans' new young coaching duo of Matt Le Prevost and Jon Loaring take charge for the first time.

Despite knowing they could have faced an easier start, Le Prevost is confident their side can end a run of four successive league defeats and surprise Rec.

'We have everybody fit and available, training has gone well in the couple of sessions we have had and we know we have a good squad full of quality,' he said.

'One thing we are not doing is thinking about the past and the lads are all in good spirits, so we are confident that we can go and get a positive result.'
