Anfield trip excites Hamon

A TRIP to Anfield next week to face Liverpool is one that James Hamon believes he and his Exeter City team-mates are capable of winning.

Last Friday, the Guernseyman was on the bench for the League Two outfit as they looked set to cause a major FA Cup upset when they led the Premier League giants, only to be denied by a Brad Smith strike in a 2-2 draw.

Now, the sides will meet again on Wednesday in the replay and although Hamon is likely to be on the bench again – he has not played a first-team minute this season – it is an opportunity he is relishing.

'Last Friday was a great experience and although we felt we did enough to deserve the win, the draw means that we get a trip to Anfield next week,' he said.

'Liverpool are one of the biggest teams around and if I am involved in the squad, it will be the biggest game I have ever been involved in during my career.

'We will go there and give it a go and hopefully will be able to upset them.'
