Whalley calls up College duo for Guernsey duty
TEENAGE duo Ant Stokes and Will Thompson will make their senior Guernsey debuts in Saturday's EH Trophy tie with Maidstone.
The promising Elizabeth College pair were yesterday named in the match-day 16 by player-coach Andy Whalley, whose side will be looking to progress to the quarter-finals at Footes Lane.
'I looked at it, saw I had a very strong 14 available with my main starting XI and a spare player across each line – defence, midfield and attack – and felt we had a good opportunity with this game to give these guys a chance,' Whalley said.
'On another day, particularly if we had been away, I would have taken another goalkeeper and perhaps someone else more experienced, but as we are at home I have gone with the view of giving these younger players some experience.'
