AN OUTSTANDING first-half display at Footes Lane on Saturday boosted Guernsey's chances of a top-five finish in National Three London & South-East.

The final scoreline suggests the game was much more of a thriller than it actually was as two tries in the final couple of minutes earned Shelford two valuable bonus points, but by then Raiders had done more than enough to clinch victory.

However, it was their first-half performance that was the difference in the match with the hosts looking as purposeful as they have done all season in that 40 minutes and at one stage opening up a fully deserved 24-0 lead with Tom Ceillam, Malcolm Barnes and Glen Walters scoring tries.

'In the first half we were unbeatable. I don't think any team in the league would have coped with us,' purred coach Jordan Reynolds.
