Guernsey FC 3, Sittingbourne 0

TONY VANCE hailed the brilliance of Dom Heaume as he helped inspire Guernsey FC to a long-awaited league victory.

Sittingbourne were brushed aside 3-0 at Footes Lane on Saturday as the Green Lions maintained 11th spot in Ryman South, with a Ross Allen brace supported by a Ryan-Zico Black strike.

And while both Allen and 16-year-old Robbie Legg were fantastic, the latter on his first home start, it was Heaume who took most of the plaudits from his manager.

'It was not a great game but we played well enough and you cannot be disappointed at all with three points, three goals and a clean sheet,' said Vance.

'We needed three points to stop the rut we have been in by losing the last half-dozen games, where we have let ourselves badly, so this is an important win.

'Ross was absolutely outstanding in the first half and caused them no end of problems, while Robbie did well and proved that this is the platform he has to be performing on, despite his age.

'But for me, one player stood out from the rest and it may go unnoticed by many, he is such an unsung hero, but Dom was fantastic all afternoon.

'He won headers all game long, most of them that he had absolutely no right to win and if you look at where he was winning them, they were all in important areas and were game-changing moments for us.'
