Guernsey FC 4, Walton & Hersham 1

SOME of their squad had helped to edge their island past Alderney 24 hours earlier and yesterday, Guernsey FC made much easier work of their Ryman South commitments.

A young and at times experimental side eased to an impressive 4-1 home victory over Walton & Hersham to move up to 12th place in the league table.

Robbie Legg was named man-of-the-match as he laid on assists for both Tom Martin and Marc McGrath, while fellow 16-year-old Jacob Fallaize contributed with two late goals – his first for the club.

Only three players were doubled up for island and club over the weekend and afterwards, GFC manager Tony Vance was pleased with his side's efforts.

'I wouldn't really say it was an experimental side we had because we had plenty of experienced players in there, but it was nice to show the depth of quality we have,' he said.

'Beforehand I told the lads to go out there and express themselves, to be brave in possession and to try to dominate the way the game was played.

'Apart from 15 or 20 minutes at the start where we had to weather a bit of a storm, we did that really well and we dominated.'
