FOUR years after their last triumph, there was Guernsey joy in the Junior Muratti yesterday as the island under-18s edged out Jersey 2-1 at Northfield.

Robbie Legg's fairytale season continued as he netted the second-half winner, just minutes after Jersey's Lorne Bickley had cancelled out Martin Savident's first-half opener.

It meant inter-insular victories in successive years for the numerous under-17s player who made up the team and afterwards coach Martin Scott was proud of his side's efforts.

For a while on Saturday it seemed as though Sylvans' senior players were going to start the inter-island weekend perfectly, as they led St Ouen 2-0 in the Wheway Cup Final at Springfield.

Aaron Ferbrache and Sam Murray had struck as Sylvans closed in on a first Sarnian success in five years, but they were stung as the Caesareans launched a second-half blitz to win 4-2.
