Representing University of Bath in the two-day event at windy Bedford, Chalmers took the outdoor title to add to his indoor crown at the start of the year.

In Saturday's semi-finals the NatWest Island Games champion clocked a new personal best of 46.88sec. and in Sunday's final he spread-eagled the competition and came home in 47.07 in far from ideal conditions.

Domestically, Mike Wilesmith made a winning return from illness to win the Lee Merrien 5k in the Park event and on the track in the Intertrust Challenge, Alastair Chalmers ran an impressive 54.29 in the 400m hurdles while Hannah Lesbirel impressed in the 200.
