'No-one remembers second' says Robin ahead of semis

NORTH and Rovers will be looking to book their spots for a third successive Rawlinson Cup final showdown between the two sides as the Track hosts the semi-finals this midweek.

In both of the previous two finals, North have edged thrillers by the odd goal – 4-3 in 2014 and 5-4 a year ago – before going on to win the league in both seasons.

The first semi-final takes place tonight and sees Sylvans take on Rovers.

Rovers are looking to reach their fourth straight final after those two defeats to North and a 2013 reverse to Bels, with coach Jez Robin admitting he wants his side to get over the line at some point.

'We have lost three Rawlinson finals in recent years and the Stranger last season, as well as being league runners-up, so it is important to win something because nobody remembers who finishes second,' he said.

The second semi-final tomorrow sees North face their Grand Fort Road neighbours Vale Rec, who beat Manzur 4-2 in Monday's quarter-final.

Both semis kick off at 7.30pm.
