Brilliant Rihoy earns Green Lions a replay

THEIR maiden home tie did not end in glory, but Dave Rihoy at least ensured Guernsey FC will get another chance of FA Cup progression tomorrow night.

Thamesmead Town threatened for so long to spoil the Green Lions party by leading 2-0 at Footes Lane in the preliminary round on Saturday, but Rihoy had other ideas.

A brilliant brace snatched a 2-2 draw at the end of an exciting match and now the two sides will go at it again on Tuesday in the replay at Thamesmead.

'Everything we did well the other night against Cray in the league we did wrong in the first half here, those first 45 minutes were awful,' said GFC manager Tony Vance.

'I can't honestly give you a reason as to why it happened, I don't know, but we were flat, lifeless, lethargic, you name it and I was extremely angry at half-time.

'Credit to the lads because we changed a few things tactically and in the second half we were far, far better and played well, but we were fortunate that we had not left it too late.'

Whoever wins tomorrow night will host Chertsey Town in the first qualifying round in 12 days' time, after they beat AFC Hayes 3-0.
