Points now the name of the game says Vance

THE Green Lions have to get the FA Cup and the agony of that penalty shoot-out defeat in midweek quickly out of their heads.

That's the message from GFC boss Tony Vance as his side prepare for its second Ryman South home league game of the season against a club with big ambitions and in decent form – Greenwich Borough – whom they have yet to come across.

'That's vital for us, but it is probably easier said than done and it couldn't be much tougher as they are one of the league's big spenders.'

Greenwich Borough's player manager is Gary Alexander, who finished a long professional career in the English lower leagues three years ago at AFC Wimbledon. In midfield, they have former Millwall man Peter Sweeney, whose career highlight was appearing in the 2004 FA Cup final against Manchester United at the Millennium Stadium.

He joined Stoke City for £250,000 in the summer of 2005 but his three years there were hampered by injury.

'They have spent an awful lot of money and if we thought Cray Wanderers were tough, this is going to be just as hard.

'This league is getting stronger and stronger and it is fantastic to be challenging within it,' said Vance who may have Ross Allen back in his squad, the striker having returned to training last night.
