Late show earns Green Lions a point

ROBBIE LEGG netted an injury-time equaliser as Guernsey FC fought back from the brink to record their third home Ryman South draw in succession at Footes Lane.

After a poor first-half showing that saw them trail 2-0 to Chatham Town, the Green Lions fought back to grab a share of the spoils through Craig Young and then Legg.

It does mean, though, that GFC are without a win in their opening five games of the season and have just three points to their name, ahead of three tough away games in succession.

Nonetheless, manager Tony Vance was satisfied with his side's second-half display, after sloppy errors initially cost them when Luke Medley and Ejiro Okosieme netted for the visitors.

'We gave away two really cheap goals and that is frustrating because we then had to make half-time substitutions that weren't part of our initial thought process,' said Vance.

'At that point we were looking for any way back into the game and I have to give credit to the lads because they showed character to fight back in the second half – not for the first time, either.

'Looking at it and only picking up a point doesn't look great, but considering we didn't have anything at half-time and didn't have anything with 20 minutes to go, it is quite a positive result.'
