Sloppy errors cost Green Lions dearly

GUERNSEY FC have dropped into the Ryman South relegation zone after another heavy away loss – but Tony Vance says he is not panicking and that there are positives to take.

However, the Green Lions boss admits his side must stop making 'sloppy errors' after last night's 5-2 defeat at Corinthian-Casuals – their 12th away league defeat in a row.

The sides were level for nearly half-an-hour before a 17min. spell prior to half-time ended the contest as Jack Strange and Shaun Okojie's brace made it 3-0 to the hosts at the break.

Josh Uzun's goal, as well as injuries to Simon Geall and Alex Le Prevost, meant more misery for GFC – only for Ross Allen to give them a sniff with a late brace.

But a late strike from Brandon Johnson rounded off a big win for unbeaten Casuals and means that GFC still only have three points to their name from six games so far.

'We were doing well for a while and everybody was sticking to the game plan well, but then we made three sloppy errors, three awful errors,' said Vance.

'That was bang, bang, bang and game over, so we have to stop gifting teams gimmes like that.

'In the second half we showed plenty of fight and character – especially after losing two defenders – so there are still plenty of positives to take from these opening few games.

'But at the end of the day, it is another defeat.'
