Injury worries mount up for Guernsey FC

ROSS ALLEN brought up a century of Ryman South goals in defeat on Tuesday night, but it is the other end of the pitch where Guernsey FC will be stretched to the full after more injuries.

Not only did the 5-2 defeat to Corinthian-Casuals in midweek see the Green Lions drop into the relegation zone, but they also saw their ranks further depleted.

Alex Le Prevost and Simon Geall both went off injured in the second half at King George's Field, with concussion and a tight calf respectively.

After the bang on the head Le Prevost suffered, followed by a trip to a UK hospital, it looks highly unlikely he will be allowed to play any part in this weekend's trip to Carshalton Athletic.

Geall is a doubt, while Tom de la Mare played the full 90 minutes at Casuals, but only after being carried off the pitch in the first half after a heavy blow.

Throw in the fact that Sam Cochrane is definitely out of Saturday's game with a groin injury while Jamie Dodd has played the last few games with a dodgy knee and GFC's defensive options are dwindling.

A big positive for the Lions was that Tom Martin made his first appearance of the season at Casuals, where he played most of the second half after coming on for Geall.

He also played 70 minutes for North last weekend in Jersey and after coming through both unscathed, he will be expected to start at Carshalton.

Jack Domaille could also be in contention after making his GFC debut in midweek and with the absences of Cochrane and Le Prevost, he could slot in at centre-back alongside Dodd if needed.
