The 21-year-old Guernsey and Canaccord Griffins wicket-keeper has trained with the county on different occasions this season and played for the academy in a victory up in Durham recently.

He has clearly impressed the Sussex coaches and has been invited on their academy tour, which runs for just over three weeks from the beginning of December through to Christmas Eve.

Martin is looking forward to the trip.

'It is a huge opportunity for me to hopefully impress over there and be playing alongside quality young players in a different environment,' he said.

'I felt that I did pretty well in the match I played in against Durham. I kept wicket and was solid, so it was a good way to start in a game like that.

'Also, when I have trained with Sussex this summer I feel like I have done okay, so I am looking forward to the tour and the various matches and training over there.

'It is mainly an academy side, but there are a few senior players in the squad as well.'

During the tour, Sussex are expected to play against various senior club sides, including two separate three-day matches, as well as a number of 50-overs and Twenty20 clashes.

Also in the Sussex squad will be Jersey's young star batsman Jonty Jenner, with the tour led by coaches Keith Greenfield and Carl Hopkinson.
