North begin title defence in Grand Fort Road derby

NORTH belatedly begin their FNB Priaulx League title defence tonight, but opponents Vale Rec are already desperately trying to keep their own title bid on track.

Successive defeats for Andy Bougourd's side means they can ill afford another slip-up at the Corbet Field in what is their fourth league game, as opposed to North's first.

Both sides continue to be without some key names, although North welcome back Simon Marley and Rec look likely to be able to name Matt Ozanne and Christian de Carteret in their defence.

Both sides are chasing the early pacesetters St Martin's, who will look to extend their advantage at the top of the table at Blanche Pierre Lane tonight.

They host Rangers, who themselves will be buoyant after beating Rec 10 days ago and have three points from two games, compared to Saints' eight from four.

Both matches kick off at 7.30pm.
