North off to winning start while Saints thump Rangers

DAVE RIHOY and Matt Loaring returned to FNB Priaulx League football for the first time in years last night and in doing so propelled North to the perfect start in their defence of their back-to-back titles.

It has been well over seven years since Rihoy donned chocolate-and-blue prior to departing to Bels and his subsequent GFC allegiances, while Loaring has barely figured since the Green Lions formed in 2011.

While they both remain fully committed to GFC and this may only have been a rare outing, they got the goals in a 2-0 win at the Corbet Field that, even this early on, look to have struck a seismic blow to Vale Rec's title challenge.

Nine points dropped in four matches now makes it look unlikely that Andy Bougourd's side will mount a serious challenge.

Meanwhile, early pacesetters St Martin's extended their advantage at the top of the FNB Priaulx League table with an 8-0 win over Rangers.

Ally Venosa and Danny Hale both scored twice and there were also goals from Louis Hunter, Steve Renouf and Debs Osakita as well as an unfortunate Shane Billien own goal at Blanche Pierre Lane.
