Dodds could be given the night off for GFC

GIVING young midfielder Tom Dodds a rest is the only change that Tony Vance envisages having to make tonight as Guernsey FC await the visit of in-form Walton Casuals in a 7.45 kick-off.

The teenager was man-of-the-match in Saturday's victory over Herne Bay, but two games in the last two days for Grammar School over in Jersey means that his GFC manager is thinking about resting him.

Other than that, though, Vance should be able to name the same team as the weekend if he wishes, with no new injuries or unavailables to worry about.

'Playing three games in three days for somebody of Tom's age is probably a bit too much and we don't want to wear him out, so he may well get a night off,' said Vance.

'But because it is a home game, we have plenty of options in there to deal with that and plenty of competition for places all over the pitch now.'

Should GFC pick up another win at Footes Lane over the side who have dropped just four points so far, it will be their first back-to-back victories since January.

However, that is not something on Vance's mind.

'Positive results are more important to the rest of the club, the supporters and the media than they are to me and the dressing room, although they are something we naturally aim for.

'This will be a tough test because Walton are flying, but saying that, these are the kind of games we should be looking to win.'
