Matt 'so proud' to be all-time No. 1

MATT LE TISSIER admitted that he was 'honoured' to have been named as Guernsey's all-time top sporting star ahead of 'so many fantastic names'.

Now 48, the Southampton legend remains the only local footballer to have ever been capped for England, playing eight times for the national side.

'I am very honoured and in many ways a bit embarrassed because if you look at the rest of the top 10, then you are looking at world champions in that list,' he said.

'For me to finish above so many fantastic names makes me very proud and what this list shows is just how strong Guernsey sport is and has been over the years.'
