Improvement in attitude pleases Raiders coach Reynolds

THE Raiders coach was in buoyant mood yesterday despite his side suffering the narrowest of defeats at Westcliff on Saturday.

Jordan Reynolds felt the 24-23 scoreline in Southend was a fair reflection of the game even though Guernsey had a chance to edge it but missed the conversion attempt of their third and final try which had brought them to within a point of their hosts.

'It did not really come down to kicks,' Reynolds said.

'It was a fair result for both teams – if we had won the game, it would not have been fair on Westcliff who played a tough game and they are a pretty good side.

'But considering what we had to go through to put out a team, I was pretty impressed with our side.

'We really got stuck in,' he added.

Guernsey scored three tries through Dale Martin, Nick Merrien and Tom Ceillam while Kenny Hellier kicked eight points.
