Guernsey FC 2, Lewes 4

DESPITE seeing his team lose for just the second time on home soil this season, Tony Vance was glad to see his Guernsey FC players 'treat the game with respect'.

Lewes left Footes Lane with three Ryman South points after a 4-2 victory yesterday, but with few Sarnian friends after a fiery encounter.

Afterwards, GFC manager Vance aimed what appeared to be a dart at Lewes.

'Any team I am a manager of are respectful in the way they play, are footballers and don't try to dominate a referee,' he said.

GFC had led early on through Marc McGrath's penalty – one of three dubious spot kicks – before Lewes missed at the other end with the first of theirs.

The visitors then turned the game around to lead 2-1 before Dave Rihoy's equaliser, but two quality late strikes settled it.

It means that GFC drop to 19th in the league table but, crucially, remain seven points above the relegation zone.
