Andrews has sights set on Bristol City first team spot

HIS youth career so far has made him a one-club man, but Jake Andrews hopes that his loan spell at Guernsey FC will help him to become a Bristol City first-team regular.

The 19-year-old midfielder has impressed onlookers already for the Green Lions, for whom he has netted three times in the two away games he has played.

For players, management and supporters, the arrival of Andrews and Kodi Lyons-Foster for an initial month-long period has freshened GFC's season.

But for the English pair it looks set to also benefit their own quests to become stars of the future at the ambitious Championship club under young manager Lee Johnson.

Johnson has already demonstrated that he is prepared to give youth a chance wherever possible and that has given Andrews confidence for his future.

'The manager has shown that if youngsters are good enough and work hard enough, then they will be named in first-team match-day squads and be given opportunities,' said Andrews.

'To play for the first team at Bristol City would be a dream come true and I would like to think that I am progressing towards that goal at the moment.

'I am the top scorer at the moment for our under-23s side this season and feel like this has been the best season I have had so far of my career.

'Hopefully I can continue to put in some good performances and continue to improve, so that breaking into the first team squad becomes a reality.'
