Big game talks follow 26 signings

ORMER FC are increasingly hopeful that the decision to cancel this season's Women's Muratti will be reversed with now 26 players expressing their desire to play locally.

After all of those players signed forms with local clubs Sylvans and Rovers, the Guernsey Football Association held a meeting on Monday night that they described as 'constructive'.

The game was originally cancelled by the GFA due to a 'lack of registered players', with the majority of the island's senior players signed on for Ormer – who are affiliated to the Hampshire FA.

However, after news of those players registering locally broke last week, the Jersey FA said that they would be happy for the Muratti to be reinstated, as long as it was by the end of this week.

With the ball in the GFA's court, they seem to be close to making a decision, although they remain tight-lipped on whether or not the Muratti will return.

'At a meeting on Monday, representatives from the Guernsey FA, Guernsey Football League Management and member clubs, being Rovers and Sylvans constructively discussed and clarified matters regarding the 2017 Women's Muratti following recent media reporting,' the GFA said.
