JAMIE DODD has quit Guernsey FC.

The Green Lions' captain confirmed the news yesterday, less than 48 hours after being dropped from the team that lost to Corinthian-Casuals on Wednesday night.

'Yes, I can confirm I have quit and that is a permanent decision which won't change,' explained the 28-year-old.

'But the reasons why are ones I'm not going to go into, they are ones I want kept internal.'

But with it, the storm that started earlier this week and erupted at Footes Lane against Casuals, has claimed its most high-profile victim – arguably GFC's best player.

GFC manager Tony Vance dropped star trio Dodd, Dave Rihoy and Craig Young and then admitted after the game their decision to play for Formula FC on Monday night had played a part.

Clearly, though, the decision to go head-to-head with the man who had been captain-in-waiting a long time before this season's anointment has backfired horribly.
