ALAN ADAMSON admits his Alderney side will have to ride their luck on occasions if they are to cause a seismic upset and dump Jersey out of the Muratti Vase this weekend.

However, the Ridunian coach believes that if his youngsters can replicate their efforts from a year ago, then they will cause the holders some problems at Mount Hale.

A year ago only a penalty from Ross Allen was the difference between the hosts and Guernsey, who scraped through 1-0 in the closest semi-final for 11 years.

Since then, Alderney have completed the majority of their maiden Priaulx League season together and, as such, are surely the best-prepared outfit ever from the northern isle.

Despite that, Adamson is not getting carried away against a Jersey side that is without Luke Watson, but has all of its other big names who have won the Vase the last two years available.

'The key thing from our perspective is to work as hard and perform as well as we did last year because if we do that, then you never know,' he explained.

'The fact we have played all year in the Priaulx should make us better than previous teams, but we still have to go out there and produce on the day.'
