Desperques overcame defending champion Glenn Le Prevost despite losing the opening frame in which Le Prevost made a 48 break in his first visit. Desperques could muster no more than a 36 and eventually took the match on a tense black-ball finish.

Shorto started even better with a first frame 59 break followed up by a 48 in the next against John Skillett.

A 31 brought Skillett back into the match, but Shorto proved too strong and finished the match with a 29.

Saturday's final will be held at the Gremlin Club, starting at 7.15pm.
