Show of girl power augurs well for Gotland medal haul

THREE of the new young guard – Courtney Butcher, Laura Le Cras and Samuel Lowe – took centre stage on a record-breaking weekend of Island Championships action.

Each of Butcher, Le Cras and Lowe left St Sampson’s High School with multiple records to their names after four sessions of action and throw in Kristina Neves’ own performance and the overall number of records rose to nine.

With the Guernsey team for the NatWest Island Games this summer being named at the end of this week, this was the final opportunity for those without qualifying times for Gotland already to achieve them.

And on this evidence, the Sarnian women’s team at the end of June is going to be stronger than at any point in recent Games.
