Northerners 3, Rovers 3

TYLER MCKANE netted the goal that opens the FNB Priaulx League title race up a crack on a dramatic night at Northfield between the island's top two.

Leading 2-0 and 3-1 at stages of the first half against their closest rivals Rovers, unbeaten leaders North will have thought that they were on course to move within just eight points of a third successive crown.

But back came Jez Robin's men and after halving the deficit by half-time following a first 45 minutes that featured five quality goals, McKane ensured a share of the spoils with his cool 76th-minute finish.

Despite seeing that two-goal advantage squandered, North coach William Woodford was not too dissatisfied with an evening that dents Rovers' hopes of overhauling the leaders, but opens the door ever so slightly for St Martin's.

'The point is more preferable for us than it is for Rovers, so while we are slightly disappointed not to take all three points, it isn't the end of the world,' he said.
