‘Realist’ GFC boss predicts more relegation battles

DESPITE his side confirming their Ryman South status over the weekend, Tony Vance says he expects GFC to be battling against relegation for at least the next two seasons.

Speaking in the wake of his side’s final home match of the campaign yesterday – a 4-2 defeat to Dorking Wanderers – the Green Lions manager was able to reflect on avoiding the drop despite two defeats in a three-day spell.

However, he warned that things are unlikely to suddenly get hugely better.

‘Our objective for at least the next couple of seasons has got to be purely and simply avoiding relegation,’ he said.

‘Finishing anywhere above that and above the bottom-three in the league will be a massive bonus, so it could be very similar to this season in that respect.’
