Big rise in race entries

MONDAY'S big race meeting will have a third more horses than last year's disappointing 16 starters.

Guernsey Race Club president Trevor Gallienne said he was absolutely delighted and relieved that the final declarations made yesterday numbered 25, up nine.

'It is comfortably better,' said Gallienne.

'We will have one race of three, but two fives and two sixes, which means that in all but one we will be able to offer each-way bets.'

The highest-rated horse on view will be the David Evans-trained Satchville Flier which won at L'Ancresse a year ago.
