Hunter comes to the rescue for Saints
ST MARTIN'S still have a chance of their first FNB Priaulx League title in six years – just.
On a dramatic evening at St Andrew's yesterday, Louis Hunter struck twice in the late stages to turn what looked like a fatal defeat into what could yet be a pivotal 3-2 victory over gallant Rangers.
Hunter's strikes on 82min. and 84min. mean that now, arguably the most thrilling title race ever will all be decided in an eight-day spell starting Friday – unless this three-way shootout needs the further drama of a play-off.
After the thrills and spills of the last month, that is something you would still not bet against, as North and Rovers are suddenly playing catch-up again as Saints snuck back to the top of the pile ahead of their final match next week.
John Peace's side have left it late on a couple of occasions already this season, but arguably not quite as perilously close as they did here, when they trailed to Wayne Bishop and Marcus Queripel strikes.
