AS THE curtain came down on Guernsey's dominant Island Games cyclists, Hannah English once again showed how bright her future is with a stunning performance in Glasgow.

Still only 14, the mountain biker raced against girls primarily a year older than her in the National Championships youth category and finished second.

In what is the most prestigious race in the British calendar for her age, English shone on the Cathkin Braes course that will host the Commonwealth Games mountain biking next year.

She defeated all of her older rivals who have been battling with her throughout the season, at a number of other prestigious National Series events.

Guernsey Velo Club president Gary Wallbridge believes English is getting better by the race.
