Phil Ogier was a comprehensive winner of the table tennis Division One championship tournament. Guernsey's Island Games hope beat main rival Mark Pipet in three straight sets in the final.

The two previous finals between the players had been of a very high quality, but on this occasion Ogier was just too good.

In the semi-finals both Ogier and Pipet had straight three-game wins over Peter Bretel and Phil Hunkin respectively.

In the Division Two championship, Kay Chivers, Guernsey's number two-woman player beat the number one seed, Derek Webb in a thoroughly entertaining final.

There were eight groups with two qualifying from each for the knockout stages.

There were no shocks with the top four seeds reaching the semi-finals. Webb beat Peter Powell 3-0 and Chivers beat Terry Trustum 3-1.

In the first round Maurice James beat Keith Opie in a marathon match 14-12 in the deciding game.

Reserve Neil Hastie won the Division Three title, beating Sam Perry 3-1 in the final.

There were only three groups with two from each qualifying for the knockout stages.

The shock was Ryan Perry, the number one seed going out at the group stage.

Thirteen-year-old Gary Dodd played brilliantly to win the Division Four title.

The unseeded youngster beat Bert Enevoldsen 11-6, 11-6, 11-6 in the final.

There were four groups. Two from each qualified for the quarter-finals. Andy de Guerin, the number one seed, was knocked out at the group section losing to both Gary Dodd and Graham Mallett.
