Sarnians ready for important weekend

GUERNSEY don't have just an important Hampshire League game this weekend. The GRUFC seconds are in action tomorrow at home in the JRA/Emeraude League and table-toppers Beeches Old Boys are the visitors.
As the club's head coach, Rob Box does not shirk his duties with the second team and he views their match with Beeches with the same importance as the Eastleigh clash.
'Beeches are top of the table but we have got two games in hand,' he said.
'However, with all these injuries, it is hard to get 20 guys fit and able to play on Sunday.
'It is a big game and that is why I am staying behind on Saturday - to concentrate on the second team's preparations,' added Box.
The match kicks off at 1.30pm.
St Jacques are also in JRA League action tomorrow.
They have an away fixture against Jersey seconds and are coming off an encouraging display against Guernsey seconds, although it ended in a 14-7 defeat for the all-blacks.
'The lads are getting a bit of belief back. They now know that we are not a bad side but the lesson from our season has been that there have been some close games we should have won, said captain Stef Bampton.
'Our season could have been so much different, but it is getting into that winning habit.'
St Jacques also have injury problems with Andy Le Maitre, Adrian Gabriel and Zac Ferbrache picking up knocks in the last week, but the skipper believes his side is capable of getting a win on Sunday.
'They do not seem to have such a settled second team as Guernsey. Their team seems to vary quite a lot from week to week. Potentially, given the size of the Jersey Rugby Club, they should be one of the strongest sides.
'Guernsey seconds are probably the strongest side in the league but there is not too much between everyone else,' Bampton said.
