A HOST of famous faces are expected to be in attendance for the 2004 Sark Cricket Weekend. Organised by the Lord's Taverners Guernsey region in conjunction with main sponsor Carey Olsen, the charity event traditionally attracts strong celebrity support with EastEnders cast members, David Essex and Sir Tim Rice, regular visitors.

Now in its sixth year, the Sark Cricket Weekend is a valuable fund-raising event, usually generating around £20,000 for distribution to the Lord's Taverners' chosen charities.

This year's weekend begins with a vin d'honneur at Government House on Friday 23 July, the following day there will be a gala evening at St Pierre Park and the cricket match will take place at Sark's New Millennium Field on the Sunday. Following the match there will be a fund-raising auction.

'We are all very excited about the Sark cricket weekend, which has become one of the most enjoyable events in the local sporting calendar as well as being such a tremendous fund-raiser,' said Lord's Taverners incoming chairman Micky Robert.

'We are also pleased that the EastEnders cast members continue to be very supportive of the event and we hope that they will be well represented when we have the final list agreed.'
