Cobo hold off spirited Deloitte

TOTAL Cobo recorded their fourth consecutive win of the Premier One season last night but newcomers Deloitte gave them a fright. Chasing 144 in a 20-over contest, last season's Premier Two champions were in with a shout at 105 for two after 16 overs having taken 55 from the previous 36 balls, but experience told in the end.
Two quick wickets, including the important one of Justin Meades bowled by Rob Turville, swung the game back in Cobo's favour and they eventually eased home by 19 runs.
'All credit to Deloitte for putting in a very good performance and making it an entertaining game. We had to fight for the two points,' said Cobo captain Stuart Le Prevost.
Special mention should be made of Simon Huxtable (40) and Bertie Salt (42) whose excellent opening stand of 79 laid the foundations for a decent attempt at the chase.
Huxtable eventually fell looking to take a sharp run to Gary Rich's arm and Salt was undone by the combination of Turville and a sharp piece of work from Justin Ferbrache.
As the run-rate climbed and Cobo's fielding remained steady, off-spinner Rich helped himself to three wickets.
Earlier, Matt Oliver had made a terrific 59 from just 41 deliveries as the main contributor to his side's total while the skipper weighed in with 26.
Jim Goodwin was the pick of the bowlers taking two for 22 from his five overs.
The win moves Cobo to the top of the table.
Meanwhile, Strollers also maintained their 100% start to the season with Jamie Gallienne the star in the Premier Three victory over Rocquettes Raiders.
The left-hander claimed two wickets before smashing an unbeaten 66 from just 39 balls including four sixes and five fours.
