THE KGV rose to Jeremy Frith last night when the Total Cobo all-rounder hit one of the best Evening League centuries you could ever wish to see. It is hard to find enough superlatives to describe the island player's 103 not out which guided his side to a nine-wicket victory over NRG Pessimists and he made it look so easy.

The fielders later admitted that they could only stand and admire the brilliance of the knock.

Pessimists, for who skipper Tim Belton continued his excellent form with a fine 86 from 71 balls, had set their opponents a testing target of 158 in 23 overs.

Cobo were missing regular opener Peter Vidamour, which in theory weakened their batting line-up, but Frith took full advantage of his chance to go in at the top of the order by scoring a second successive hundred for his club.

His shot selection and placement was immaculate, his timing perfect and his running first class as he set about an attack that did not have any answers.

Frith's half-century came up off just 36 balls up to which point he had struck six fours and a pulled six, yet things got better.

His second fifty was scored off just 29 balls and included two more sixes, one a lofted straight drive and the other a massive pick up over mid-wicket that bounced next to the score-hut.

Fittingly, the last of his 10 fours took him to three figures and was also the winning runs for Cobo with 23 balls to spare, with Matt Oliver and Stuart Le Prevost having played the supporting roles.

'You set yourself private milestones and it is nice to achieve them. There are a couple more I hope to achieve in afternoon cricket,' said Frith.

He was modest in reflection but this was something extra special.
