SEVERAL of Guernsey's brightest netball starlets continue to train hard as they seek national recognition. Heading the list is Zola Bourgaize. The 15-year-old Nerine centre/wing-defence is on her second year at 'Talent One' and is now going for England under-17 long squad although she still has two years at that age group.
'This is Zola's third time away. She went to Potential Talent and from that has been recognised as Talent,' said coach Gill Queripel.
Bourgaize will be travelling to Sheffield for her Talent camp on 26-27 June.
Also in Sheffield at that time will be Nerine and Guernsey goal-defence Naomi Taylor, who will be going for the England under-19 squad.
Prior to that she has been invited to train with the England under-21s this weekend.
Meanwhile, four other Sarnians will be in Bournemouth at Potential Talent camp, looking to follow Bourgaize up the national ladder and go through to Talent camp in October.
Becky Warren, Amy Wright and Lyndsey Bougourd all went to the April camp and are among the 21 who have made it back for this trip. They are being joined by Kerri Brown.
'They are trawling for shooters and Kerri has come on really well in the last few months,' Queripel said.
There are 10 other Potential Talent camps held throughout the country and from all of them, no more than 50 players will make it through to Talent.
Finally, Donna Brehaut has been rewarded for her improvement by gaining a place on the south region's Talent Development Programme from which she will be looking to progress to Potential Talent.
