NICK MANN was accredited with the break of the day but it was Andrew Reeves who took the victory in the Guernsey Velo Club's L'Eree-circuit road race. Mann pulled away from the peloton at L'Eree Hotel in the six-lap event, but was later reeled in and it was left to a group sprint to decide the final positions on the course which took riders up Pleinmont Hill, along to the Mallard Hotel and then back down to L'Eree.

In the sprint, Reeves took the peloton by surprise.

As riders eased up towards the line waiting for someone to attack, it was Reeves who blasted off the front.

By the time the pack reacted, Reeves knew he had won and eased up for the line, finishing four seconds clear of Chris Le Page, who took second.

In the under-16 class, Matt Osborn completed the one-lap of the same circuit time trial in 24min. 51sec.

Meanwhile, Terry Wright won the latest 10-mile time trial in 22min. 10sec.

But, arguably, the ride of the day came from Graham Le Maitre who finished just 16 seconds adrift of Wright in 22-26.

The juvenile winner was Jack Sparkes, who completed the course from Cobo to Pleinmont and back in 34-25.

Super-veteran Allan Renyard, put in a fine performance to finish in 25-06, giving him an elite standard for his age group.

Ann Bowditch underlined her fine current form by breaking her five-mile time-trial record for the second time in two weeks.

She took it down to 11-49, a five-second improvement.

This gave her seventh place overall in the GVC event won by Wright in 11-03.

Triathlete Pat Down continues to show improving form on the bike and edged inside 12min. with a time of 11-58 for eighth place overall.

Top junior rider was British Cycling Talent Team member Mike Serafin, who was an impressive 12th.
