ADAM HINDLE, one of several Guernsey youngsters to play county matches at the weekend, scored an excellent half-century on his debut for Wiltshire. Playing for the under-12s against Devon at Devizes Cricket Club, the young Sarnian had made 52 of Wiltshire's 160, chasing a mammoth 316, when the match was abandoned due to rain.

'Adam is one of the most naturally gifted players that I have ever seen and tends to make batting look so easy, I am so pleased that he managed to perform so well on his debut,' said Guernsey under-12s coach Jason Shambrook.

Another young Guernseyman who impressed for Wiltshire was Chris Peatfield in the under-11 match against Gwent at Newport Cricket Club.

He produced superb figures of three for 17 from his seven overs of leg spin to help restrict the home side to 141 off their 35 overs.

He then opened the batting in reply, making a quick fire 18 to help Wiltshire secure a comfortable victory.

'Chris was the pick of the players and they were looking to play him up an age group for the county,' said Wiltshire manager Graham Chandler.

Rory Moriarty and Jon Clark both featured in Wiltshire under-13s' victory over Gwent at Warminster.

Although Clark made just one run as his side made 222 in 40 overs, he would later take a wicket with his left-arm medium pacers as Gwent were bowled out for 166.

Moriarty kept wicket extremely well and handled the fast bowler Courtney, who was clocked at just over 70mph at the recent west of England sessions, with ease.

Unfortunately, Tim Ravenscroft's match for Hampshire against Kent was rained off.

'The School of Excellence allows us to spend quality time coaching the very best of our talented youngsters, we are grateful for the continued support of PWC.

'When players go onto playing at the top level and succeed then it is very rewarding for all the coaches involved,' said Shambrook.
