Four-point holes key to Lisle's victory

MARY LISLE scored on all but one hole to win the Lady Captain's Day Stableford competition at La Grande Mare. The 31-handicap amassed 41 points, with her 21 on the back nine being sufficient to pip Shonagh Dyson on countback.

The key to the winner's score were two four-point holes and six three-pointers.

The fours came courtesy of a gross par, net eagle at the 319-yard fourth hole, and a gross three, net ace at the short sixth.

Dyson scored on every hole for her 41 points but had no eagles.

She came to the last requiring two points for the trophy, but a double-bogey seven gave her just one and she had to settle for the runner-up spot.

Third-placed Helen Banks was left to rue two blanks - at the ninth and 14th - and also well-placed was guest player Lady Foley.

The Royal Guernsey Lady Captain scored 34, a total which included three four-pointers, all net aces on par threes.

Her reward was the guest prize provided by her counterpart at La Grande Mare, Lynne Coutanche.

Thirty-six players competed for the prizes on offer.

Fran Leesmith won the nearest to the pin at the sixth and Mandy Hardman the longest drive.
