GUERNSEY'S Adam Le Page has fulfilled a cricketer's dream by winning a major cup final at a test match ground. The young Sarnian, who will be 13 next month, was an integral member of the Millfield Prep School team that triumphed in the prestigious David English Bunbury Cup final at Headingley at the weekend, capping a highly successful season for the Somerset establishment.
To get to the showpiece event for national school under-13 sides, Millfield won the west of England section of the competition and in the final they faced Christ Church Middle School from Stone, Staffordshire, the Midlands champions.
It turned out to be a one-sided affair, with Christ Church bowled out for 50 before Le Page and his opening partner wrapped up a comprehensive 10-wicket victory.
The young Sarnian notched up an unbeaten 19.
'It was a great experience for them all to play at Headingley. Adam really enjoyed it,' said his mother, Karen.
That was Millfield's third trophy success of the season.
Previously they had won the National Prep School competition and then their county title.
It was Le Page's final season at Millfield Prep. In September he goes up into the senior school.
'Adam gets involved in a lot of other sports, including rugby and hockey. He certainly enjoys it and gives it his best,' said Mrs Le Page.
